Scottsdale 2010 – Fun in the Sun!

This year’s Scottsdale show started and ended in the rain but the days in between were all fun in the sun! Randle Performance Horses brought 12 performance horses and 2 reiners ready to compete in this year’s show.

After a good night’s rest from the long trip, everyone worked hard to unload the trailers and build a comfortable stall area. Tyson, Isaac, Bob and Jeremy worked tirelessly through the thick mud to build the Randle Saloon and provide a nice place for the client’s to gather and get ready to show. While the boys sweated out the construction work, the girls, Sally, Sarah, Laura and Kiley hauled load after load of tack, grooming supplies, and other equipment through the boot sucking mud.

The show finally kicked off with the youth competitors. It was a non-stop weekend with eight horses and riders competing in numerous divisions from Reining to Show Hack including Arabian Hunter Pl 14-17 with three horse and rider pairs from the barn. In the end, RPH’s junior riders brought home…

Peyton Randle & PR Adonis – Top 10 Arabian Western Pl Walk/Jog Eq & Pl

As the youth weekend came to an end, it was time for the adults to show their stuff…literally! The adults took home many honors including…

Vicki McFarren & Santa Bravo – Top 10 Arabian Hunter Pl AOTR & ATR
Tosha Cox & Chang K – Top 10 Arabian Hunter Pl AOTR
Mari Perczak & Colorado Cowboy Roy+ – Top 10 HA/AA Reining AOTR

Tyson Randle & TR Skidmark – Champion Half-Arabian Reining Horse Futurity
Tyson Randle & Hollywood Showgirl – Top 10 Half-Arabian Reining Horse Futurity
Tyson Randle & Maybe Lou Dun It – Top Half-Arabian Reining Horse Futurity

Some highlights of the show included Tyson’s Half-Arabian Futurity performances. It was nothing less than amazing that Tyson showed all three of his Futurity horses into Top Ten honors. TR Skidmark took home the Championship garland with a breathtaking performance. The other two also gave stellar performances with Hollywood Showgirl placing 4th and Maybe Lou Dun It placing 9th. This warranted a celebration!

Another highlight was Tyson’s participation in the Celebrity Slide. This year’s event. paired celebrity Reining trainers with celebrity English and Halter trainers. After a week’s worth of blood, sweat and tears (and a few laughs), the English and Halter trainers worked a true reining pattern. Tyson was paired with celebrity English trainer Joel Kiesner, trainer of such horses as Adam’s Fire and Afires Heir. It was a treat to watch Joel train hard on Paulis Europena for this event. When the evening finally came, the whole barn was pumped to watch him ride. Unfortunately, Joel missed a spin and therefore received a zero for being off pattern. Despite a disappointing finish, it was a hoot to watch.

Sally also gave a noteworthy performance on American Idol+/ (recently purchased by the Williams family). In a tough field of 29 horses, Sally rode Idol all the way to the Reserve Championship title.

Throughout the progression of the show the collection of ribbons hanging out front steadily grew. It became apparent that the Randle riders were a force to be reckoned with.

As another successful show came to a close, the team once again worked tirelessly to tear down their hard work and ride (drive) off into the sunset…well in true Scottsdale form, it rained as the trucks took off towards home.

Look for Randle Performance Horses to compete at Region 7 in Scottsdale, AZ from April 20th through April 25th.
